Worship At Wesley

Worship is given shape and direction by the Worship Committee that meets on a monthly basis. It is the Worship Committee, together with the Minister that plans special worship services, celebrations of Communion and other special events in our worshipping life.

Sunday Morning

Worship begins at 11:00 AM on Sunday morning (10:00 AM in the summer). Often, before worship begins we will join in an informal hymn sing. Our worship services are an hour filled time of song, story and praise that is led by clergy and lay people.
 

We are excited to be using the new worship resource of the United Church of Canada, Voices United. This hymnary is a collection of over 700 hymns with both traditional and contemporary images for God.

Our worship service is often described as traditional with a boost of creativity. Many people are involved in leading in worship at Wesley: lay readers, greeters, choir and soloist, minister and ushers... all of us come together to offer an hour of praise to God.

Sacraments: Baptism and Communion

Baptism is celebrated on an as needed basis. We do however try to arrange to have baptism take place at appropriate points in the liturgical year. If you or someone you know is interested in discussing baptism, please call the Church Office.  Funeral and wedding services are also available to the congregation and the larger community.

Communion is celebrated six times per year: World Wide Communion Sunday, First Sunday of Advent, Christmas Eve, First Sunday in Lent, Easter Sunday and usually once more in the late spring or early summer.  

The table we gather around is an open Table. Our Table is not the Table of the United Church of Canada -- it is not even our Table -- it is Christ's Table and all who are hungry, all who are seeking to follow in Christ's way are welcome to share the broken bread...

Special Services

At various times through the year special services are offered to assist people in their faith journey. For example: Lenten Luncheon Services and Evening Advent Reflections. Check the current events page and/or watch the weekly service bulletin for more information.
