Our Mission

As part of our Renewal for Mission work the congregation drafted a Mission Statement in January of 2004.

“As a people of God, we are committed to each other and to spiritual renewal and growth. We reach out to the community at large to enhance God’s world through loving, enthusiastic and inclusive programs.”

When the congregation adopted the Mission statement it was decided that we would retain a previous Mission statement as a logo: God Loves You!  In Word, Song and Action let us show you how much.

This logo came to life one cold winter day in January of 1999. A group of people from the congregation gathered for a day long retreat to discern the mission and ministry of Wesley Memorial. We explored the call of Jesus. We talked about the history of our Church. We shared what we saw to be the strengths and weaknesses of our congregation... and after a lot of talking, prayer and laughter, the mission statement you see was created.

Our Theology

We are liberal in our theology and as such seek to be an inclusive community. Our United Church creed is an example our inclusiveness.

United Church Creed

We believe in God:

Who has created and is creating,

 who has come in Jesus the Word made flesh,

 to reconcile and make new,

 who works in us and others by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:

 to celebrate God's presence,

 to live with respect in creation,

 to love and serve others,

 to seek justice and resist evil,

 to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,

 our judge and our hope.

In life, in death, in life beyond death,

God is with us.

We are not alone. Thanks be to God.
